Fast Light Technology Limited, founded in 2024, is a spin-off from the State Key Laboratory of Displays and Opto-Electronics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technlogy. We are dedicated to the industrialization of ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) materials. Leveraging over 20 years of research experience, our team has successfully developed a range of FLC materials and production technologies. Our Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (FLC) respond over a thousand times faster than the nematic liquid crystals (NLC) currently used in existing products, making them suitable for various display and optoelectronic applications. FLC-equipped liquid crystal displays (LCDs) can compete with OLED displays. Our materials exhibit exceptional optical properties, such as rapid response times, minimal edge field effects, and low driving voltages. We have successfully developed materials capable of enabling ultra-high-resolution displays, fast LiDAR systems, and AR multi-focal lenses. The commercialization of our innovative FLC materials not only enhances the competitiveness of liquid crystal displays and optoelectronic products but also brings a new revolution to the industry and market.
In 2025, we received RAISe+ funding from the Innovation and Technology Commission of HKSAR, which played a vital role in our successful completion of the first round of seed investment fundraising by the end of the year.
Looking to 2026 and beyond, we will focus on fundamental research and improvements to our liquid crystal materials, aiming to enhance their performance and optimize manufacturability for a wide range of applications. Our research is supported by our laboratory, and we plan to establish our production line in both Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. Our commitment to innovation will drive us to explore new use cases, ensuring our technologies meet current market demands while paving the way for future advancements across multiple sectors.
